Irelands Reaching out Programme

This just popped through via Oliver L.

Ireland Reaching Out is a new Irish Government-sponsored programme seeking to connect people of Irish heritage abroad with their place of origin in Ireland.
By joining any of the 2,500+ parish communities online, direct genealogical assistance is available from local people in the area who also volunteer to meet those who make a return visit. This is a free service run by local parish volunteers and Ireland XO is a not-for-profit charity.

Above all, Ireland XO builds on the paper trail of the records that may only get people so far, by providing that final link of local knowledge. We link directly to people from the communities of their ancestors and use their knowledge to perhaps finally discover that elusive headstone, or the spot where the ancestral home once stood, or to even seek out some long-lost cousins.
My reason for contacting you today is to “reach out” to your organisation and those members of Irish heritage who would welcome the opportunity to hear more about our initiative and avail of this free service. I attach an email text and information flyer for this purpose.
In return, we would like to promote your organisation through our website and social media channels. As we identify the Irish Diaspora in New Zealand, we would actively encourage them to join your organisation. Through our marketing efforts and social media channels, we feel we can be a source of new members for your organisation and thus mutually benefit each other.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards
Paula

Calling all Brosnans for 'The Gathering'

I am emailing you on behalf of the East Kerry Roots Festival which is a festival that celebrates the unique culture and heritage of the Sliabh Luachra region in Co. Kerry and encourages people to explore their genealogy. As part of the festivities this coming year we will be hosting a Brosnan Clan Gathering. It would be great to have lots of Brosnans' attending it but people can also get in contact if they want to link up with other people researching their Brosnan Family Trees. I would be grateful if you would place the piece below in your newsletter or in some way let your members know about this event.

Wishing you a very Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

Kind regards
Geraldine Brick

Are you a Brosnan or is there a Brosnan branch on your family tree?

Brosnans from all over the world are set to converge on Castleisland and its surrounding villages from July 25th to 28th 2013 for the Kerry Brosnan Family Reunion, as part of the East Kerry Roots Festival 2013. The Brosnan name has been one of the most prominent in East Kerry for centuries, with its origins believed to be linked to the Brosna area.

An invitation is being extended to all Brosnan clan members locally, nationally and internationally to join this ancient clan and celebrate their proud heritage. This four-day gathering gives Brosnans from around the world, and anyone with Brosnan ancestry, the chance to rediscover their roots. The proceedings will culminate in the inauguration of a new Brosnan clan chieftain.

You do not have to be a Brosnan to join in the festivities. The variety of festival events planned for The East Kerry Roots Festival 2013 weekend, are designed to suit anybody with an interest in genealogy, culture or heritage. The festival will provide an opportunity to socialize, chat with relatives and re-live past times through attending the variety of cultural and heritage events, walks and workshops on offer.

We know that you will enjoy your visit to the Sliabh Luachra area. For some this will be an opportunity to visit the place of their birth, for others, the birth place of their ancestors. For all, it will be an occasion to relive and create fond memories over a joyous weekend.
